How do I know if we may be a good fit?

We may be a good fit if you’re grappling with questions about your identity and feeling the weight of expectations from school, family, and society; you’re exactly in the right place. I’ve worked extensively with people who experience trauma due to circumstances beyond their control, including former foster youth and people who have struggled with houselessness. I firmly believe that mental illness often stems from structural, social, and economic issues rather than personal failings. Having faced mental illness myself, I understand how discouraging it is to be told that you are to blame for your pain.

If you’ve been hesitant to find a therapist because you worry they won’t understand the broader context of your mental health, I might be a good fit. I’m committed to acknowledging and addressing the larger social factors that impact your well-being. Together, we can navigate these challenges and work towards healing.

What can I expect going into a session with you?

When you come in for your first session with me, we’ll start with a warm greeting and maybe a quick recap of how things have been. I’ll then help you set the agenda for our time together, offering a few ideas but ultimately letting you decide what’s most important to talk about.

My approach is about understanding the stories we tell ourselves and the world. We’ll explore where these stories come from, how they might be helping or hindering your goals, and how you can create new narratives when needed.

I prioritize tailoring each session to your unique needs. At the end of our time together, I’ll ask for your feedback on how the session went and if there’s anything I can do differently to better support you. Your input is vital to me, and I want to ensure our sessions are as helpful as possible.

About me

I like cycling, snowboarding, camping, and just generally being outside a lot. When I can't be outside, and sometimes when I can be, I like to play nerdy board games, cook a nice meal for myself, or spend time with the people I care about.
